Among the particles that collected within the colorful facade of the interior of this cavern that Harjen had discovered, scientific principles were not followed. A lifelong search for the fountain of youth is generally considered to be futile, although it remains something that both many a rich and poor man have begun. If only starting something that could not be finished were an art form, we could all rest a bit easier on our soft pillow at night.
It was within this sand-like texture of grit that covered the walls of the cave that life itself was able to propagate. From simple, stationary particles of matter, dead cells miraculously sprang to life. There was a simple caveat, that went particularly unnoticed. While cells could spring instantly to life, they had to have been first living cells. Thus, the special power contained within this secret lair could heal and extend life.
One night, about six months into his stay underground, Harjen began to notice these categorical changes occurring within his body. The fortress of solitude that the cold air and darkness provided actually slowed down the process of his own aging. It was not as if rings existed within his bones to prove to the outside world that he was in fact cheating death, but inside his own mind he just knew.
