It wasn’t too out of the ordinary to receive a strange text message from Lucy, only to have her standing there in front of me a few minutes later. I really didn’t make much of it at first, because Lucy has the tendency to be overdramatic and turn a simple broken nail into a life-changing event. Maybe this is what endears me so much to her. She has an abundance of feeling and she isn’t afraid to show it.
There is nothing remarkable about any of her features. It may even be this lack of anything that stands out that makes her so remarkable in my eyes. She is slightly taller than I am, but I am barely 5 and a half feet tall. She has long brown hair that flows just past her shoulders and is straight as your average board. Her eyes are brown also, with a subtle orange ring around the pupil. It is in those eyes that I could spend the whole day staring, were she to allow it.
I seem to have lost myself in reflection momentarily and I heard her coming in the front door. I could hear her call out, “Roger let me up. He said you were probably expecting me. I hope you don’t mind that I let myself in.”
If it were anybody else, I would likely be very annoyed. However, it didn’t bother me in the slightest. “Not really,” I called back. Just give me a minute to wash up. You caught me in the middle of a nap. Make yourself at home.”
“You got it. Hurry up before I invite Roger upstairs!”
To be continued…
