A final bang of his gavel and the court session was adjourned. It had not gone as anyone really thought it would, for the judge collapsing right up there by the bench was an extremely unordinary way to begin the sentencing. Nevertheless, the outcome, while not as bad as it could have been, meant that Todd would be behind bars for a minimum of 15 years. Lydia was heartbroken and could barely watch as Todd was taken out of the room, blowing her kisses along the way.
There is an ever-present voice that bills itself as the collective consciousness. If one seeks to deny this common rule of their own accord, the conscience can become muddled and lead down a slippery slope of consequence. The folks of the town barely remembered the incident of the judge, but instead to remunerate the image of Judge Leesman with a show of their faith in him. He managed to avoid any future collapses and continued to practice, albeit at the behest of his doctor. Todd did not fare so well and his first two years behind bars were rather a rocky road. Lest you become bored by the details, it took quite a while to get broken in to his new life in prison.
