Part XI:
As I began moving the rocks away from the area, something truly unexplainable occurred. Although the rocks were extraordinarily heavy, they began to almost levitate. Instead of being harder to move, they rocks became exponentially easier to move. I, myself, do not possess any great strength, yet the more rocks I moved, the easier they were to pick up. When I lowered the first bag down to Loretta, she could not believe how easy it was to pick up.
“What did you put in here, styrofoam?” she called up to me.
“No, of course not. It does seem amazingly light though, doesn’t it?” As the words came out of my mouth, I was pinched by the excitement of the moment. “I am going to come down there. I would like to run some tests on this rock.”
I unplugged and packed up the saw. I just had to know more about this mystery. I had been muddled in confusion ever since discovering this place and instead of finding answers, I just came across more and more of the unknown. Nevertheless, I was giddy with the excitement of discovery. The rock particles themselves were being governed by some external force and I wanted to find out more about it.
“Let’s load this stuff in the car and take it back to camp,” I told Loretta. “I just can’t get any more extraction done right now. I need to know what is causing this rocks to become lighter. I know there is still a lot of daylight, but we can come back bright and early tomorrow.”
